Purpose
Our Silent Virtual Study Group Initiative is designed to help students who need extra motivation to study independently. Recognising that some students struggle to stay focused on their own, we’ve created a virtual study environment. This initiative allows students to join a video conference where they can study alongside their peers in a supportive and structured setting.
Benefits
Enhanced Motivation
The presence of other students studying at the same time creates a positive, focused environment, making it easier to stay on task.
Structured Routine
Regularly scheduled study sessions help students develop a consistent study routine, making learning a part of their daily lives.
Focused Learning
The sessions are organised by subject, allowing students to focus on key areas like English, Maths, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.
Enhanced Accountability
Knowing that they are part of a scheduled session with peers motivates students to stay committed and complete their study tasks.
Parental Peace of Mind
Parents can rest assured that their children are engaged in productive study time, supported by a structured environment.
Improved Time Management
Regularly scheduled study sessions help students establish and maintain a disciplined study routine.
Reduced Distractions
By setting aside specific times for focused study, students can minimise interruptions and improve concentration.
Access to a Supportive Community
Students benefit from the sense of belonging and encouragement that comes from studying with peers who share similar goals.
Schedule
The Zoom meeting will be live from 5 PM to 9 PM, Monday through Friday. To ensure students stay refreshed and focused, there will be a 10-minute break at the top of each hour. We encourage students to use this time to make a drink, stretch, or engage in any activity that helps them feel relaxed and energised.
Students are welcome to join or leave the session as needed and are not required to stay for the entire duration. For those who plan to study for longer periods, taking regular breaks is important for maintaining concentration and well-being.
The meeting will include a Main Room and breakout rooms for Year 7 to Year 13. Students have the flexibility to remain in the Main Room or move to their designated year group breakout room. The same guidelines for respectful and focused participation apply in both the Main Room and the breakout rooms.
Guidelines
To ensure a productive and respectful study environment, we ask all participants to follow these simple guidelines:
Stay Muted
To minimise distractions for everyone, all participants must remain muted during the session.
Prepare Materials
Have all necessary textbooks, notebooks, digital tools, and resources ready before the session starts.
Focus
Find a quiet and comfortable study space. Close unnecessary tabs or applications on your device to stay focused.
Respect
Respect the study environment by avoiding interruptions and being mindful of others' study needs. Use the chat wisely.
Engagement
While interaction is minimal, feel free to share study tips or resources in the chat during scheduled breaks.
Camera
If you choose to on your camera, make sure your surroundings are tidy and suitable for a study setting. Avoid showing any inappropriate items.

How Service Aligns with Our Mission
2. Empowering Nigerian Youth to Break Boundaries
This group can provide a focused and supportive environment for students to excel academically, helping them overcome barriers and achieve their educational goals.
3. Achieving Leadership in Professional Sectors
By fostering better study habits and academic success, the study group can help prepare individuals for future leadership roles and professional success.
7. Enhancing Health and Well-being of Nigerians
Providing a structured study environment can reduce stress related to academic challenges and support mental well-being.
Future Plans for the Group
1. Should we observe a rise in participation, we intend to establish subject-specific breakout rooms for each year group. This will enable students to engage in focused study with their peers.
2. We propose to organise tutorial sessions for core subjects across all year groups. Students seeking additional support on particular topics can benefit from these sessions.
3. We aim to provide live tutorial assistance for the majority of subjects. This will allow students experiencing difficulties to receive real-time guidance.
4. Furthermore, we hope to engage older students as subject-based mentors for their younger peers. We will contact parents to ascertain their children’s interest in offering such support.
